Can Kraft paper packaging bags be treated for waterproof and oil-proof?
We can provide waterproof, oil-proof, moisture-proof, scratch-resistant surface treatments for Kraft paper packaging bags, and can customize corresponding functions according to the usage scenario.
Waterproof Treatment Methods
Yes, Kraft paper packaging bags can be treated to become both waterproof and oil-proof, though untreated Kraft paper naturally absorbs liquids and fats.
Waterproof Treatment Methods
• PE or PP Lamination: A thin layer of polyethylene (PE) or polypropylene (PP) plastic film is bonded to the paper to create a strong moisture barrier.
• Aluminum Foil Lining: Kraft paper is combined with an inner foil layer, which blocks both water and air for items like Coffee or dry goods.
• Waterproof Coatings: Non-toxic, plastic-free heat-seal coatings or food-grade wax layers are applied to make the surface hydrophobic (repelling water droplets).
Oil-Proof (Greaseproof) Treatment Methods
• Dense Fiber Beating: The wood pulp fibers are heavily hydrated and beaten during manufacturing to create a tight, non-porous structure that naturally blocks grease without needing extra plastic layers.
• Special Greaseproof Barriers: Internal oil-resistant coatings can be added to stop fats and oils from soaking through or weakening the bag seams.
Note: Adding plastic films or certain coatings can affect the recyclability or home-compostability of the bag. If you are using them for food, look for options certified free of BPA and restricted chemicals like PFAS.
